In the City an Evening of One-Act Plays Denver - Brooks Center Arts to stage an evening of four one-act plays by Colorado playwrights, all taking place in a decidedly city setting and performed in the Underground Tea Room space. Fur by Karl Kopp, a man-wolf happens upon a beauty shop on E Colfax. Karl was co-minister of the First Divine Science Church. Edgar by Frank Oteri, a religious man encounters a woman of uncertain repute on the streets of Denver. Frank is from Connecticut via Pueblo and now in Denver. Like Trains in the Night by Joel Eis, two writers cross paths on a New York subway train. Joel was an instructor at Ft Lewis College, Durango now in California. From the Lips of a Strange Woman by JD Mason, there's more than meets the eye to one certain homeless woman on the streets of Atlanta. JD Mason is a celebrated, award winning Denver novelist. The Almost Summer Horse Show is sponsored by UPHA (United Professional Horsemen's Association), a national organization created to promote both young horses and young riders. One of the main goals of UPHA is working with handicapped youth, and this charity show is a benefit for Praying Hands Ranch, a Colorado therapeutic riding program based in Parker, Colorado. Praying Hands works with both handicapped and troubled youth by teaching them about horses and horseback riding. The Almost Summer Horse Show is a 3-day event (2 sessions daily: Fri Sat 10AM, 6PM, Sun 10AM until end w 1 hr break between sessions). FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING. Food and beverages available on site for purchase. The Almost Summer Show features the American Saddlebred and the Friesian horse. We have riding and driving classes and many classes for the young rider. This is great family entertainment. Spectators are invited to visit the stable area to meet these horses, their owners, riders and trainers in person. Makes a great group field trip.
